Medical Center foundation’s Tree of Life ceremony is Dec. 14

It is not unusual for us to look back at holidays past with fond memories of gathering with friends and family. However, this can be a bittersweet time of year for those who have lost a loved one. The Greene County Medical Center Foundation invites everyone to come together in honor and remembrance of those individuals.

“One of the most important ways we can deal with the emotions surrounding occasions after losing a special person in our lives is to seek out others who understand how we feel,” said Foundation director Nancy Houska. “Another is to find ways to include their memory in our holiday observances. The Greene County Medical Center’s Tree of Life is one way we can help our community members do just that.”

The Tree of Life is adorned with ornaments bearing the names of loved ones and is on display in the Greene County Medical Center lobby throughout the holiday season. The tree and those honored on it are then showcased during a special event. Everyone is invited to join us for the Tree of Life ceremony, the reading of loved ones’ names and dessert at 12:30 pm Thursday, Dec. 14, in the main lobby at Greene County Medical Center.

Ornaments are $25 with included dessert ticket. These can be purchased now through December 11 at the Gift Garden in the lobby of the medical center, online at gcmchealth.com/foundation/tree-of-life or by contacting Foundation director Nancy Houska by phone at 515-386-0108 or by email at nancy.houska@gcmchealth.com
